Photon works with all Art-Net to DMX and sACN E1.31 to DMX interfaces. We don't recommend a specific brand or
model over others as it's difficult to pick one the fits all users needs. You can also use a DIY interface built
with Arduino or Raspberry Pi 🤓.
You can for example buy a DMX interface like the eDMX1 Pro by DMXking, Enttec ODE, ELC DMXlan buddy...
Photon can send DMX frames in either Art-Net or sACN (not both at the same time). You have to select the right
mode depending on the compatibility of your Art-Net/sACN dongle to DMX.
The ethernet connection will give better performance than WIFI but this solution will be less mobile.
If you use an ethernet connection, you can connect your box to your local network or directly to your iPad with
a USB-Ethernet adapter.
Photon is not directly compatible with USB to DMX interfaces, as it isn't possible to communicate with these devices due to lack of drivers on iOS.
You can now control your Philips Hue lights and other DMX lights in the same project. Simply connect your bridge
to the app to use all the features of Photon with your Philips Hue.
Brightening up your most beautiful evening at home or controlling strip lights in your bar is now at your
fingertips !
Be careful, only the "Entertainement" mode is available, it requires a v2 bridge and "white & colors" bulbs. You
can control a maximum of 10 Philips Hue (due to bridge limitation).
Now that you have the right hardware and have connected it to your iPad it is time to configure Photon properly.
